Start Menu does not work in Windows 10: Solution

Clicked but no menu appears (with the right button we get a hidden menu but not complete)
Oddly, the problem is from the display driver, the included one by Windows . Especially if we see the "Windows Shell experience host" tasks process consumes all the time 10% of the CPU or more.

Adding hot bed BQ Hephestos 3D Printer: Compiling and installing new firmware

If we want to print in ABS, heated table need

There are instructions on how to do this on the official website of Spain BQ, but are outdated and only explain how to do it in version 1.4.2 , which differs substantially from the latest firmware more refined versions , such as 2.3.1 or 2.4.0 ( do not not try it with 2.4.0, it gives compilation error at the very beginning).

Well, in short, I will show how to compile the firmware to serve you for these and subsequent versions , with optional hot bed activated and working properly. But first, I show how I've ridden (and there tutos on youtube so I save this part - The guy in this video , although physical and clothing clavadito me, not me lol).
A clause ... is a company of the stature of BQ should have precompiled firmwares with different options , and let the user choose (even versions with height sensors for self - calibration table), it is outrageous that a user who does not have know anything about compilers, have to eat the head ... even though deep down that is when you ride a printer that whole piece yourself ... but it is a trifle compile and save many headaches (there are several threads forums questions about this topic).
Before anything else, apart from the table, cables and thermistor, to feed the table need a power supply of at least 12V 8A ( best of 11 or more); the more heat amps before the table and more easily keep you warm. The most economical and reliable is to use an old power source ATW at least 300W, by looking at the indicating amperes for connection + 12V, are durable and well refrigerated fan:

Drivers for Windows 10 ATI RV370 (X300)

Here you have the direct download, without advertising, of drivers that work for this card in Windows 10 (64 - bit and I think also 32 bits).
If it gives you an error with the installation, you have to install them manually (by going to Device Manager -> Select Display driver (right mouse button) -> Update Driver, select it manually on the system, locate the driver directory).

I've gone crazy looking for them ... getting no more than incorrect drivers for it (Ati no longer supports it) so if I hope will save more than one headaches... :).

How to locate the fault point on a fiber optic cable without tools

24 port switch with Allied Telesys Quality

There are expensive cable testing tools that tell us quickly and reliably what fiber cable is failing sending the light signal, but do not usually indicate where it has been broken.
But with a simple trick we can see which section of the connection is broken , just using a powerful chip CREE LED Flashlight XML-T6 and the ability of the fiber to transmit any light waveform trhough it.
At one end we put the flashlight focusing terminations:

Changing the hard drive of a Lacie Network Space 2

A couple of years ago I bought this super NAS (Network Storage) Lacie with Linux operating system, good performance and very low power consumption (you can set it to shut off at 20 min. without use, very convenient for longer life of your hard drive).

The disc It had got too small, so using Clonezilla, I opened the box (to do only handle in the area led out all the cover up), and I cloned the 1TB disk to another larger than 2 TB. To exploit its full capacity, we have to resize the XFS partition data to use all the free space remaining with the Gparted (free Linux program).

The Gparted allows us to do all sorts of operations on partitions (image of their web)

Connecting an IDE (DVD-ROM, HD, etc) unit to a motherboard without IDE port (SATAS only)

Using an IDE-USB adapter we could "recycle" the IDE recorder
In many current motherboards like Gigabyte GA-F2A55M-DS2, no longer include IDE ports , which have been displaced for speed and economy by SATA.
But if we have such an old IDE DVD Burner 3.5" and we want to continue using it (it is not the time to pull something that works), we can be forced to pay more for a motherboard with those ports, or instead we can place a IDE to USB adapter that functionality allowing us permanently for 4 € (saving us 30 € that costs a new DVD recorder).

As we saw in a previous post , adapters SATA / IDE to USB are very practical; it specifically has to IDE 3.5 "and 2.5" SATA port, very useful when you need to connect hard drives without opening the computer:

You can buy on Ebay from 3.99 shipping included in Spain

We just need build or search for a USB connector on motherboard, which I believe to be the most difficult part (although you can use a box of a PC to go to waste); I for example have obtained one cutting the Firewire 1394 connections (in the first picture the gray cables cut) not be used for anything, and solder the red, white, green and black USB adapter cable at positions corresponding to leave permanently connected to the motherboard:

In the picture below, the adapter connected and working, although I had to remove a lateral from the connector for the power supply on the left:

Computer with dropbox slows: Usage Tips

I recently repaired a computer that "slowed down" a lot to boot. It was a laptop with Celeron, quite outdated already. What was my surprise that the cause that produced this problem was they had shared a folder several gigabytes of information in Dropbox  (videos and photos on vacation)  and not a virus; the users wanted to backup everything in the cloud, so that every time Dropbox was checking changes, the hard drive was "going crazy".

Get the most out of your SSD: Adjust Windows 7 settings

I chose the 840 Evo 250GB for its value / capacity / price

Change your computer's hard drive for an SSD ( Solid State Drive ) is the best way to rejuvenate a few years , letting you skip loading the operating system in a minute to do it in just 15 seconds ; thanks to the speed of read / write access to the programs is almost instantaneous.
Disks SSD, being immune to shock and vibration , are especially recommended for laptops, as discussed in the previous post on the subject . The best value are the Samsung and Crucial (for less than 100 € 250GB -4/06/14).
And if you use the Samsung RAPID software, get these speeds ( Source )

Prevent the hard drive of your ultra portable to be damaged by shocks: Change it for an SSD

Top conventional disk 1.8 "; under SSD 1.8"
In this ultraportable Compaq Mini 700 10.2-inch screen was broken hard disk 4.57-cm (1.8 inches). These very compact and manageable laptops are susceptible to small bumps and tear that ultimately damage the hard drive, so you'll change your hard disk by another 80GB SSD (virtually immune to shock flash memory) for a 60GB € 60 purchased on Ebay.

In the SSD careful with the brand that you acquire (OCZ, Kingstom, Samsung etc) ; to save you can be buying one with low quality components that are damaged in a few months). They are still very expensive and low capacity  (that is changing at the speed of light ) for use on a desktop, but thanks to its low power consumption, shock resistance and high speed access will eventually imposed on notebooks .

Installing Windows 7 on an Acer Aspire 1690 or 1692LMi

Windows 7 is currently the best operating system of Microsoft, for speed, security and compatibility, being as fast as XP on computers with enough memory (2GB of RAM recommended), on computers with little RAM is highly recommended to install version Starter, occupies the least.

But when installed on older computers like ACER Aspire laptop, you have to look for lifebecause some drivers are not directly available on the website of the computer manufacturer.
The first thing to do is check if some drivers, but did not come with the Windows 7 DVD, may be in line for example in the Aspire 1692LMi both IrDA infrared port sound as we have them available if we give automatic driver search.

Depending on the computer, we have to find out if there are compatible drivers available, usuallythose for Windows Vista will run smoothly on Windows 7.

Installing drivers on Aspire 1692LMi step by step:
  1. For Wifi unzip and run this file in administrator mode, and although we give error to restart will automatically recognize the wireless card built in. If it still will not install, installing all Windows updates will recognize.
  2. For the built-in card reader, it is worth us with Controller ATI website, here you have it available .
  3. For sound and infrared, as we discussed, we give automatic search online, or install all updates are installed automatically.
  4. To install the video card Ati Radeon X700 Mobitily, you must download and unzip this file several ancient Mobility Controllers, the "9-11_legacy_7_vista_32-64_dd_ccc_mobility"eg C: /, and then proceed to install the .inf folder C: \ ATI \ Support \ 9-11_legacy_vista32-64_dd_ccc \ Packages \ Drivers \ Display \ LH_INF manually:

How to install a driver manually on Windows 7

Within the Device Manager, right-click and "Update Driver"
