Converting an owl figure on a practical table lamp using LED technology

Craft with LED: As you can see almost any object serves to build a LED lamp
Hello friends, we have seen above that the technology of LED lighting allows you to convert almost any object into a light source , which can unleash our imagination and surprise all and sundry with our creations.
This time I decided to make a very special gift to someone very special, while riding entertained me two 7W LED round (it's a type of aluminum plate on which the semiconductor diodes are used in 14 points per disc).

In a bazaar I noticed an owl by the size of their eyes and its shape well served me to do something original and useful; to be hollow could easily incorporate all the elements.



Materials:
  • Basic electricity / electronics; scissors, cable, 40W soldering iron, duct tape, etc.

WARNING : While 18V not carry a risk of electric shock, the primary stage operates at 220V SO YOU MUST TAKE CARE OF WELL INSULATED CABLES AND NOT PLUG UNTIL EVERYTHING IS OK.

I used a rotalín with a cutting disc to go wearing the edges and then with a soft blow open holes where Iran hosted the round LED.

To give a more "buhil" aspect, I also stuck with loctite and held a couple of pieces of black wire with pliers (now seems to have glasses, but is more "mono").

And only need to prepare the transformer with rectifier and power cord, and put everything inside owl to finish the job.


The rectifier is one of the most complicated parts for the electronics not know. Explain the details of the operation of a rectifier is not the purpose of this entry, inform internet understand not.Basically with the diodes rectify the signal to make it continuous, and 330uF capacitor (how much more better ability) eliminated almost all of the ripple signal.
It always accept any capacitor greater than those we handle voltages. In this case it is safe to handle voltage; 18V, so we can experience without great risk.

To open the transformer I used my resorted rotalín 125W and a disc of sheet metal cutting.You have to go slowly and wear protective eyewear if the disc breaks, releasing hazardous pieces:


I had to make a hole to sufficiently transformer , to enter. Solder the wires to the transformer and protect joints with duct tape.


Once inside I placed padding to prevent movement of the transformer . Keep in mind that you can warm enough; the filling must withstand temperatures of 60 ° C and allow some ventilation.


To avoid slipping and go down, I placed adhesive sponge rubber feet; Thus besides the hole is concealed:


And with this we have the owl ready ... the owl ... or whatever comes to mind !!


Final note: The owl can dazzle because COB LED lighting focuses on the points where they are housed; if we want to improve the result we can add a pair of white to better blur light on the yellow zone led disks.
